N.S.S

National Service Scheme (N.S.S) is an ideal value based youth programme. This is envisaged to accomplish the long cherished goal of our Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, involving the youth in Nation Building.

The main objective of the scheme is personality development of the students through community service. This is the scheme which brings about basic attitudinal and behavioural change in the students and shapes their character and makes them responsible citizens.

It has been proved that the success of scheme and its effectiveness in moulding the personality of the students is really outstanding throughout the country. It inculcates in youth the National Values like Friendship, Co- operation, Selfless service, Patriotism, National Integration, Harmony, Secularism and Equality.

The motto and watchword of N.S.S is “not me but you”. This expresses the need for selfless service and to show consideration for fellow human beings. The goal of N.S.S is “education through community service and community service through education”.

N.S.S in our college was started during the year 1998 and several officers have rendered their service and brought reputation to our college. Presently, we have 2 units under the guidance and supervision of our N.S.S Programme Officers Sri G.S. Nagaraja (Unit 1) and Sri Maqsood Ahamed (Unit 2)

N.S.S Advisory Committee is formed under the chairmanship of Principal. The N.S.S units are actively involved in motivating the students in social work especially in rural areas. Sadbhavana Divas, Teachers Day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, World Aids Day etc. are observed with involvement and services of N.S.S volunteers. The units are actively involved in the Protection of Historical Monuments, Plantation, Blood Donation, National Youth Day, Personality Development Workshop, Street Play & Skit, Cleanliness, Community singing and Youth Week celebration in addition to developing citizenship qualities among students.

Special camps are arranged in selected rural areas for the purpose of establishing public assets. N.S.S. volunteers in association with the villagers are engaged in cleaning roads, construction of new drainage, soak pits, leveling of school grounds and other developmental works. During camp the students are made to learn community living and their extracurricular talents are explored.
